This is one of many more to follow, of my illustrative work, combined with photography & design.
I thought, by combining a photographic image and something illustrated by hand, would be different from my usual typical kaleidoscopic and mirrored pattern designs.
I have plenty of Oyster shells from Whitstable beach in my garden and use them to decorate some of my shelves at home. I started thinking they looked like ice cream cones, and then how nicely this ties in with the theme of the seaside. I then thought to take a picture of an ice cream, hand-draw and scan it, then merge both images together.
IMPORTANT note about the design: If you intend on using this as a ceiling shade, please let me know. I will ensure the central bit is the right way up
Internal shade fitting: UK, Europe: The shade fits the standard bayonet cap (BC) and also with Edison Screw (E27) lamp holders (remove the converter plug in the centre of the fitting). US & Canada: unless otherwise stated, washer fittings (1/2" ring) will be used, for lamps that use a harp or vertical rod system.
Fabric design: The placement of the design, at the seam, may vary. This is because they are handmade and come in varying sizes, but will always retain 25cm high as part of the design.

This is first of many illustrations that I will be merging with my photography.
I used a photo of an ice-cream as reference to hand-draw in pencil. In the 80's, I remember watching Paddington Bear and then a little way down the line seeing something similar in the a-ha music video, 'Take On Me', blending 2-D and 3-D moving images.
This concept inspired me to explore blending photos with illustration.
This design is one of a series of a small collection of other ideas I have, using illustration and photography.
